How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your floor square footage and number of rooms. The calculator estimates wall surface from there.
  2. Set ceiling height — vaulted rooms add up to 25% over standard 8-foot ceilings.
  3. Pick a paint grade. Premium acrylic latex is the FL workhorse; designer paints are usually overkill.
  4. Choose prep level honestly — heavy prep (drywall repair, wallpaper removal, smoothing texture) is the biggest cost driver after paint area.

Calculator FAQs

How accurate is the wall area estimate?

Reasonably — we use the standard 2.8x floor-to-wall ratio, adjusted for ceiling height. For a precise estimate, ask your painter to measure walls; differences are usually within 10%.

Does this include cabinets?

No — cabinet refinishing is its own thing and typically priced per door/drawer ($75–$200 each in FL). It's not part of an interior wall repaint.
