Paver Patio Cost Calculator

A paver patio in Florida runs $14 to $52 per square foot installed depending on material and pattern. A typical 20x15 ft (300 sqft) FL patio in mid-tier travertine pavers with a soldier-course border costs $6,500–$11,000 in 2026. This calculator includes ICPI-spec base course, polymeric joint sand, and contractor labor — not the Pinterest version that omits prep work.

How to use this calculator

  1. Measure the patio in length and width. For irregular shapes, break it into rectangles and add up the areas.
  2. Pick a paver tier. Mid-tier travertine or premium concrete is the FL default for residential patios.
  3. Choose a pattern. Running bond is fastest and cheapest; herringbone and circle kits add 15–35% in labor.
  4. Toggle the border. A contrasting soldier-course border looks finished and runs $9–$18 per linear foot.
  5. Toggle 'remove existing' if you are tearing out an old patio surface — saw-cut concrete demo is $2.50–$4.50/sqft.

Calculator FAQs

Why are pavers so much more expensive than stamped concrete?

Pavers are individually-set units with sand bedding, polymeric joint sand, and edge restraints — the labor is meaningfully higher than a single concrete pour. The upside is that pavers can be lifted and reset if they settle, do not crack like stamped concrete (which fails along control joints), and the surface texture is more forgiving for FL pool decks. For most FL homeowners willing to pay the premium, pavers are worth it.

Do I need to seal the pavers?

Optional but recommended in FL. A sealer applied 6 months after install (after the polymeric sand has fully cured) protects against staining, locks the joint sand in place, and gives the surface a slight sheen if you want it. Plan on $0.50–$1.20 per sqft for sealer plus application, repeated every 3–5 years. Some FL homeowners skip sealing entirely and accept the patina.
