Window Replacement Cost Calculator

Florida window replacement runs $950 to $2,100 per impact-rated window installed, depending on frame material, glass package, and size. A typical 12-window FL home installs for $11,000–$25,000 with vinyl impact-laminated windows; HVHZ counties (Miami-Dade, Broward) run ~18% higher because of Notice of Acceptance product requirements. This calculator applies real 2026 FL contractor pricing.

How to use this calculator

  1. Count your windows. Most FL single-family homes have 10–18 windows — walk the perimeter to confirm.
  2. Pick an average size class. If most are standard 3x5 single-hungs, choose Standard. Big sliders or transoms shift the size class up.
  3. Choose a frame. Vinyl is the FL default for impact-rated retrofits; aluminum is right for coastal exposure and big openings.
  4. Pick a glass package. Impact-laminated is the FL recommendation; double-pane Low-E is the non-HVHZ budget baseline.
  5. Toggle the HVHZ checkbox if you are in Miami-Dade or Broward — the calculator adds the NOA premium automatically.

Calculator FAQs

Do I really need impact glass?

If you are in HVHZ counties (Miami-Dade, Broward), the answer is yes by code unless your home has shutters or other approved opening protection. Outside HVHZ, impact glass is still typically the right call — it qualifies for substantial insurance discounts (5–15% on most carriers), eliminates the need to put up shutters before storms, and offers significant security benefits. The break-even on the impact premium is usually 8–12 years through insurance savings alone.

Why does aluminum cost more than vinyl?

Aluminum extrusion is more expensive than PVC vinyl extrusion at the manufacturing level, and aluminum frames typically use heavier glass and harder anchors to maintain the structural rating. For coastal homes, the aluminum premium is worth it — aluminum survives salt-air corrosion 25–30% longer than vinyl. For inland FL, vinyl is the smart-money choice and insulates better.
